Our History
Our story begins in the late 1980s when a group of young men formed syndicates to develop residential subdivisions in and around Bendigo. They were ambitious but not foolhardy, moving purposely but cautiously into the world of residential development.
Today, we’re proud to have helped over 6,000 families establish a new home in one of our communities. We also look to the future with great optimism, as our current land bank contains over 19,000 lots Australia-wide. That means more Australians who will get to lead a rich, fulfilling and connected life in a Villawood community.

35 Years of Villawood – The Video Series

2024 marks 35 years of excellence.
From the humble beginnings of a group of friends pooling their life savings into a subdivision in Bendigo in 1989, Villawood Properties has grown to become one of Australia’s leading land developers – recognised, trusted and awarded.
There’s been much to celebrate over the last 35 years.
In 2009, there was The Nature of Villawood, which highlighted our focus on nurturing and rehabilitating the strikingly beautiful ecosystems within its communities.
Then in 2014, 25 Years – Real Stories, Real Communities marked our coming of age as Australia’s foremost community developer, noting its players and initiatives, its creativity and breakthrough designs.
Our last publication, simply titled 30, we took these themes further and celebrate the stories of the everyday people living in our wonderful communities and those who helped us make it all happen.
