Villawood’s beloved CEO passed away suddenly over the Christmas period. We will greatly miss our friend and colleague and our thoughts go out to Phil’s family.
We have truly appreciated the countless commendations received of Phil’s passion, character, professionalism and integrity. What was abundantly clear is that over the course of 30 years, Phil amassed the respect of both Local and State Government, along with that of the wider property industry. Our staff fondly remember their boss as a bike-riding, grammar obsessed, highly-charismatic, people-loving, Irish-born, family-loving CEO.
Phil started his career as a town planner at Bendigo City Council, progressing to the Department of Planning. In 2001, Phil moved from planning to property development and has worked for some of the biggest organisations in the sector, including VicUrban and Stockland, before joining the Villawood family in 2008.
Over the past 10 years, Phil oversaw the launch and delivery of 20 projects across Victoria, NSW and QLD in a fast paced, growing business that has won multiple industry awards for project excellence. Phil took the role of Chief Executive Officer in December 2017 and his focus was very much on building a strong, resilient team that is future focused, adaptable to change and capable of creating consistently high-quality communities. Phil was one-of-a-kind and he will be greatly missed.
