$18M Club Redstone Build Kicks Off at Sunbury

Construction has started on an $18M resort-style club at Villawood Properties’ masterplanned Redstone project in Sunbury.

The exclusive residents-only club was kickstarted by Sunbury MP Josh Bull in a sod-turn shovel event with Villawood executives this week.

Mr Bull took a tour of the area, noting that “this is incredible progress for our expanding town’.

“These exceptional facilities will provide even more opportunities for recreation, relaxation and enjoying quality time with family, friends and neighbours for many years to come – complementing our town’s already enviable infrastructure and surrounds,” he said.

The club, designed by architects ClarkeHopkinsClarke, will be built by the Jardon Group and is scheduled to start operations in spring 2026.

With swimming pools, sports courts, gymnasium, café/restaurant, function venue, family facilities and more, the club is set to be a powerful community hub at the 2500-lot masterplanned Redstone.

Villawood CEO Alan Miller explained: “We have people who come to live here from all different places.

“They don’t know who their neighbours are going to be. They want to meet new people and make new friends.

“How do you meet each other? We try to provide them with a melting pot of activity. Club Redstone will have a cafe, a parents’ lounge where they can bring their kids and meet up and still see what their kids are doing in the pool, the playground.

“For those who want a bit more fitness, we’ve got a fantastic gym. Plus, we have a function room where there will be lots of kids’ birthdays, twenty-firsts.

“We even have weddings in our residents’ clubs. The club is a great spot. People can all just meet up with each other.”

The clubs also stage events, provide a range of programs and classes, and in short become the new suburb’s social and community hub – years before any similar infrastructure might be provided by government.

Club Redstone’s striking curved form takes inspiration from the surrounding landscape. Warm textured bricks and the earthy tones of the rust-red façade reference the region’s fertile soils and undulating typography.

The sustainable design features generous glazing and volumes over two levels, carefully orientated to capture beautiful views and natural light throughout.

Ngaio Chalmers, partner at ClarkeHopkinsClarke Architects and leader of its community and culture team, says Club Redstone is the first clubhouse project of its kind to integrate childcare, and provides “an active, communal meeting place for people of all ages”.

“That amenity and social connection is so important to include at the heart of new communities and growth areas,” she says.

The Redstone club is the 11th to be built by Villawood in what has become a signature hallmark of the highly decorated developer. The clubs are key selling points for buyers eyeing early greenfields social and recreational infrastructure and keen to strike up friendships with new neighbours.

The Club Redstone build-start comes hot on the heels of Villawood opening its $14.5M Club Alamora at Tarneit in May. Villawood has several others in the pipeline: another in Sunbury at its Kimberley project, two in Adelaide, one at Cairns and two more at Moorabool in Geelong. Club Rathdowne at nearby Wollert received a prestigious Great Place Award from the Urban Development Institute of Australia in 2022.

The Redstone club features will include:

– Undercover lap pool
– Outdoor plunge pool
– Kiddies’ splash deck
– Fully-equipped gym
– Boutique café/restaurant
– Parents’ lounge overlooking a secure play space
– Chic function room for private and community events
– Independent childcare centre open to public
