Villawood’s unique artworks by sculptor Folko Kooper bring beauty and whimsy to our communities. They are at the heart of Villawood’s sense of place and connection with the natural environment. And they’re as much a part of our ecology as the handsome lemon-scented gums or crimson-peppered crepe myrtles lining the streets.
Each sculpture is designed to be unique to the community and reflect the flora and fauna that are endemic to the area. Think eagles and pelicans, sulphur-crested and palm cockatoos, falcons, swans, butterflies and dragonflies – in russet-coloured corten, gleaming metal and polished glass. It’s art for heart’s sake.
Renowned sculptor, Folko Kooper, shares his inspiration and design process behind his latest piece representing the Kimberley escarpment that overlooks Sherwood Grange. You can view the sculpture at the Kimberley Sales Centre, Balbethan Drive and Lancefield Road, Sunbury 3429.
