Villawood supports Helensvale Hogs Ladies Day

It was game on at Helensvale Hogs Rugby Club on July 20, with the annual Ladies Day event proving to be a roaring success, raising funds for a very deserving local cause on the Gold Coast.

The annual event acknowledges the contribution of women to rugby and in particular the mothers, wives, partners and extended family of the players at the club, which is located just 5km from Villawood’s Helensvale community The Surrounds.

This year the club raised funds for Bella’s Sanctuary through DVConnect, Australia’s first purpose built bridging accommodation facility, located on the northern Gold Coast, providing a safe haven and support for women and children leaving domestic violence situations.

As a proud sponsor of the Helensvale Hogs for the past six years, Villawood Properties assisted in the fundraising initiatives of this event, donating a Cool Cabana to the raffle prize draw.

Villawood Properties Queensland General Manager, Michael Williams, says Villawood is proud to be able to give back to the local community via the sponsorship of clubs such as the Helensvale Hogs.

“We are very passionate about contributing in a positive way to the local environments in which our master planned communities reside and we see supporting the surrounding cultural, recreation, community and not-for-profit groups, sporting clubs, and schools in the area as just one of the ways we can do this,” says Mr Williams.

“This will be the sixth year that we have supported the Helensvale Hogs and we enjoy getting involved and contributing to events and fundraising initiatives like this throughout the year.”

Villawood has a sponsorship commitment to the club of $10,000 over a two-year period as part of Villawood Properties’ Community Grant Program, one of the company’s many philanthropy programs.

The Villawood Foundation, which launched last year, administers more than $3.4 million nationally each year through a multitude of community grants and sponsorships to community and not-for-profit groups, sporting clubs, and schools in areas local to the developer’s communities.

The Helensvale Rugby Union Club known as the Helensvale Hogs was founded in 1987 and has almost 500 members ranging from under six years through to seniors accommodating both male and female players.
