Armstrong Mount Duneed’s long-awaited secondary school is squarely back on the agenda with Victorian Opposition leader Jess Wilson on site last week pledging to build the school if elected to government.

Parents and kids joined Jess, along with shadow education minister Brad Rowswell and Western Victoria Region MP Bev McArthur to announce the Liberals, if elected in November, would build the school in their first term.

Brad said the school would feature a select entry stream alongside an open enrolment pathway for all local students.

“A partial select entry school will give local families access to an academic pathway that, until now, has only been available to students prepared to travel into Melbourne,” he said.

Armstrong residents, led by parent Sherryn Vessey, have been vocal in their concerns about the school’s stalled progress since South Barwon MP Darren Cheeseman pledged $1m for a business case before the 2022 State election.
