Official launch of good home charity auction

Villawood together with Weeks Homes launch the Good Home initiative, a major fundraiser for The Advertiser SA Kids Appeal.

Approx 200 guests gathered on the rooftop of The Advertiser, with Guest of honour SA Premier Peter Malinauskas officially launching  the Good Home initiative and kicking off the night by announcing the SA Government’s $100K donation to The Advertiser Foundation Kids’ Appeal.

During the event, The Advertiser Foundation’s deputy chair Penny Fowler delivered a special message from News Corp chairman Lachlan Murdoch, who said: “News Corp has always sought to find new ways, and more ways, to give back to the communities in which we work and live, helping build social cohesion and stronger communities”.

Villawood CEO Alan Miller, followed on from this to further acknowledge that seeing corporates and government come together in a campaign like this is tremendous.

This partnership will see a house built at Oakden Rise and auctioned next November, with proceeds from the auction of the home shared among five children’s charities in SA supported by the SA Kids Appeal..

The Good Home is part of Villawood’s spirit to make a difference by giving back to the community and raising money and awareness for children and youth charities. It joins their existing commitment to philanthropy via The Villawood Foundation, and will see the annual total of grants to community groups and charities increase significantly.

It also builds on Villawood’s long-running relationship with The Advertiser’s News Corp in Melbourne’s Good Friday Appeal Charity House Auction for The Royal Children’s Hospital.

In similar fashion, The Good Home will see a small army of tradies and suppliers join with Villawood, Weeks and The Advertiser to deliver this valuable community contribution to help vulnerable children.
