The Good Home’s auction $973K success at Oakden Rise is a great result and terrific testament to the power of community caring for community.
Villawood CEO Alan Miller said the excitement of the nail-biting auction of the Weeks Homes house at Oakden Rise ome Home house at oakden Rise was a fitting match for the thrill of helping The Advertiser Foundation’s Kids Appeal.
Glorious spring weather, a dozen registered bidders and an excited crowd buzz set the scene for a nail-biting auction battle for The Good Home at Villawood’s Oakden Rise.
A breathtaking $973,000 under the hammer secured the stunning Weeks Homes Japandi-styled home for winner bidder Deepa Kumari Jha – all of which will go to the Advertiser Foundation’s Kids Appeal.
“Six very important charities will be the beneficiaries of this inaugural Good Home and it’s great to see so many people across corporates and community working together to help them,” Mr Miller said.
“You really can’t under-estimate the potential this house has to help change the lives of families and young people for the better. It’s a great achievement toward a really important cause.
“I think it sets a terrific example for other corporates to give back to the community in a real and meaningful way.
“Villawood believes that once corporates reach a certain size, they have a duty to give back to the community. It’s why we set up our Villawood Foundation, which financed the land for this home.”
Mr Miller thanked The Advertiser Foundation and Weeks Homes ome for bringing about The Kids Appeal and for supporting our Good Home House and Land Auction. Also Premier Peter Malinauskas, who helped launch the auction homes campaign with a $100K donation to the kids appeal.
He said the winning bidders were sure to enjoy their new home in Villawood’s new Oakden Rise community.
“Oakden Rise is going to be a great new community, it has all sort of features,” he said.
“It has a residents club with a swimming pool, gym, café, family facilities, a function venue, sport courts and more.
“It has loads of open space. You won’t have to walk more than just 200 metres to find parkland or open space. And it’s just 9km from the Adelaide CBD.”
