Eucalee Swings into Action

Villawood Properties has broken ground at its newest Queensland residential community in Gleneagle.

Bordering the township of Beaudesert, Eucalee is being developed on an 83-hectare site that will ultimately comprise over 700 lots up to 1,100sqm in size.

A ceremonial turning of the sod event was held onsite Monday 5th December to officially mark the start of construction at Eucalee.

Villawood Properties Queensland General Manager, Michael Williams, says the construction program has been expedited following the successful sell-out of its $500 million masterplanned community at Helensvale, The Surrounds.

“The Surrounds was met with consistent demand since it hit the market in mid-2016 and demand skyrocketed as the project neared sell-out,” he said.

“We have seen unprecedented demand for land over the past two and a half years, and land supply is as tight as we have ever seen it in south east Queensland. It is getting increasingly more challenging for people to find land in growth areas to build on.

“Strong population growth continues to drive demand for more diverse housing options, and this is precisely what we plan to deliver at Eucalee.”

Scenic Rim Mayor Greg Christensen, Deputy May-or Jeff McConnell and Cr Michael Enright were in attendance, with Mayor Christensen taking up a shovel to turn the first sod on the 83 hectare site off the Mount Lindesay Highway.

Villawood Properties recognised the Yugambeh people as traditional owners of the land at the event, with the Mununjali Elders, representatives from the Danggan Balun group, performing a Smoking ceremony and presenting a Welcome to Country to commence the proceedings.

The event was also attended by the first round of grant recipients, beneficiaries of Villawood’s Community Grant Program. The initiative has been introduced to assist cultural, recreation, community and not-for-profit groups, sporting clubs and schools within the Scenic Rim region.
