Development Approval For Barham Lakes

The highly anticipated Barham Lakes lifestyle resort has officially received development approval from Murray River Council and is now one step closer to becoming a reality.

The CluBarham Riverina project, a 236-home over-55s land lease community in collaboration with Villawood Properties, will offer resort living unmatched for its pristine lake systems, proximity to the Murray River and range of facilities on offer.

The Barham Lakes site, which was once utilised as a public reserve, has been closed to the public for more than 11 years and is now set to be revitalised for future residents, with a portion of the site also becoming accessible for the wider community to enjoy once again.

“We’re very excited to be one step closer to breathing new life into the Lakes for future residents and the broader community to enjoy once again,” says CluBarham CEO Jason Wallace.

“Villawood, as a partner, can be summed up in three words: trust, reliability and community, and those values strongly resonate with CluBarham and the type of community we want to create.

“We’re very much part of the community, we’re trusted in the community and we’re very reliable, and so is Villawood.”

“We’re looking to create a community that fully meets the needs and wants of future residents, as well as the broader community,” says Villawood Regional General Manager Julian Perez.

“We want Barham Lakes to become a highly sought-after lifestyle community that complements everything people already love about Barham.”

The Barham Lakes project will be complemented by Barham’s education, recreational, dining and social facilities, along with its reputation as a safe and welcoming community.

Mr Perez said the team understood the importance of the site to the local community and wanted to ensure Barham Lakes became a premium lifestyle offering for the region.

“The site we’re proposing to develop holds a lot of meaning for many in the community, so we want to acknowledge that connection and invite locals to help shape what comes next,” he said.
