Caring for the Careworkers at Oakden Rise
Last month, the very first land release took place via ballot for Oakden Rise. The Villawood team ensured there was a careworker allotment allocated in the first release for our local Oakden Rise careworkers.
The allotment was purchased with a smile by one of Oakden Rise’ local careworkers!
The Care Worker Support Program at Oakden Rise sets aside lots for care workers with a $20K saving on their block. It’s open to nursing care workers, as well as paramedics, firefighters, police, teachers and personal carers. It’s aimed at helping them into the market as well as helping build strong community capital in their new neighbourhood.
The scheme, started by Villawood in Victoria four years ago, has to date helped hundreds of essential care workers access a property market many might not otherwise have been able to afford. It has been formally endorsed by Victorian Premier Dan Andrews. Villawood has now introduced the program across three major new developments it is undertaking in South Australia.
