Care workers in South East Queensland have been given a helping hand to get into the property market thanks to the generous Care Worker Support Program funded by leading national developer, Villawood Properties.
The program which was started by Villawood in Victoria in 2018 has assisted hundreds of essential workers to purchase their own home in their local community, enabling them to live close by their workplace.
Under the scheme eligible care workers working and living nearby Villawood’s newest community Eucalee in Beaudesert north, can benefit from a $10,000 saving on their new home.
Beaudesert local and police officer Heather recently took up the grant to help purchase an east-facing homesite in Stage 1 of the Scenic Rim community.
With access to parklands, open space, walking tracks, and a host of high-quality community amenities on her doorstep, Heather says Eucalee fulfilled her dream of living on a large homesite close to her work and other services.
“I had looked at numerous estates in the area but ultimately I wanted to feel like I wasn’t living in suburbia yet I still wanted to be close to all the essential services,” says Heather.
“Eucalee ticked all the boxes with large lots close to town for a reasonable price and I was able to secure a sizable lot in a great location with beautiful views and a serene feel.”
Heather, who has worked in the Beaudesert area for over four years says the Care Worker Support Program enabled her to build the family home she has always wanted.
“I never thought it would be a possibility for me to build my own home but now the opportunity has risen, and I am very excited to have a new home in a new community,” says Heather.
“As a single mother and an avid supporter of the Scenic Rim community, I was blown away when I found out there was a Care Worker Support Program available to me and I am very thankful for the opportunity as it will assist me financially to build the house I have always dreamt of for myself and my children.
“It has been an unexpected surprise and I am excited to be a part of the family oriented Eucalee community for many years to come.”
Villawood Properties Queensland General Manager, Michael Williams, says the Villawood Care Worker Support Program is a proactive way to support the care workers in communities who work tirelessly to support others.
“The Care Worker Support Program acknowledges the crucial role care workers play in caring for our communities and aims to offer assistance to these vital workers to ensure they are able to live in the communities that they so selflessly serve and support,” says Mr Williams.
“With the increasing cost of land and land supply constraints across South East Queensland it is becoming increasingly difficult for most people to purchase land making it even harder for essential workers who are often on a modest income.
“This is our way of offering a helping hand to the people who give so much to our communities through their service.”
