Be right at home with energyefficient luxury

It is the home that is good for the state’s sick and underprivileged kids – and good for your hip pocket.
And it can soon be yours.
The Advertiser Foundation’s Good Home at 24 Bluegum Way, Oakden, just 9km from the CBD, hits the auction block on November 1, with the house and land having been donated by Weeks Homes and Villawood Properties.
Weeks Homes design manager Michael Morris said aside from being luxurious, it had also been carefully designed to maximise energy efficiency – particularly important during a cost-ofliving crisis.
“Everything is powered by electricity, so we’ve put a solar system on the roof, an electric heat pump system which is efficient to run, we’ve got an EV charger for an electric car and we’ve got battery storage too,” he said.
Mr Morris said it was certainly not your average show home, complete with three-phase power supply, R6.0 ceiling insulation, LED mirrors, ducted reverse-cycle airconditioning and blockout roller blinds.
“Everyone here is really proud of it,” he said.
