Armstrong April Community & Construction Update

Yes, it’s that time of year again!  Easter will be here in no time, so why not settle down with a sneaky hot cross bun and a cuppa and read on.

It wouldn’t be Easter without our Good Friday Appeal Charity Home Auction in support of the Royal Children’s Hospital.

This year, the auction will be on April 7th at our Coridale community in Lara.  The hero of the day is a spectacular two-storey, 4 bedroom, fully furnished Electra 35 home, kindly built and donated by Henley Homes.

On a 512sqm lot directly opposite our new Club Coridale, it’s been built in an extraordinary community effort with more than 150 tradies, suppliers and volunteers all donating their time, skills and materials.

Last year’s auction achieved a record-breaking price and was a lot of fun to attend, so why not pop down and make a day of it? Enjoy free food, coffee, ice-cream, face painting, kids rides and roaming performers. It’s a fun-filled day for the whole family!

Happy Easter and enjoy the break! And please take care to drive safely if you’re on the move.

Sincerely,
The ARMSTRONG Team.

Construction Update

Club Expansion

Club Armstrong’s popularity continues to bring residents to its facilities –its gym and pools, its café, courts, function and family rooms. We are now well on the way to realising a new facility there to help meet the growing demand for our club with a new $2 million two-storey facility.

Spence Constructions are carrying out the works on the building which will be connect, on the ground floor, to the former Men’s Shed. This will create a ground-floor multi-purpose room of 180sqm with storage areas, kitchenette, and amenity/washroom.

A second ground-floor will be a multi-purpose 45sqm space, which can operate as a shared home office space opening to a north-facing deck. The upper level will be a mid-size multi-purpose room, accessed by stairs and an internal lift. This room will have direct access to a north-facing balcony, with views over the resort pool, and back to the main Club Armstrong building.

Construction is forecast to be completed by end of year – to keep an eye on progress click the button below.

Community Hub in Mount Duneed Nears Completion

Armstrong Mount Duneed’s new $13 million community hub on Unity Drive is steadily nearing completion.

The new hub is set to feature early years and family services with a new kindergarten, maternal and child health services, consulting rooms and community spaces.
The building is at lock-up stage and finishing works such as painting, flooring installation and paving are being carried out.

Work is expected to be finished in coming months and the building opened to the public in the second half of the year. The City of Greater Geelong is running a tender process to secure an external provider to operate the kindergarten and community spaces. The project has been funded by the city and the State Government.

Mt Duneed Village Taking Shape

Armstrong’s central hub is taking real shape now with construction at the corner of Sovereign and Unity Drives taking real shape.

The nucleus of our Club Armstrong and Bunjil’s Nest adventure park, together with Mirripoa Primary and the Greater Geelong City’s new community hub, is rapidly being complemented by our new Mount Duneed Village.

This $55 million project is well advanced and we’re looking to open later this year.
The 2.2-hectare centre will have 6000sqm of retail/commercial space and 200 car parks. It will be anchored by Champions IGA with a dining promenade of chic eateries and cafes, a medical/chemist centre, childcare, swim school and town square.

Sleek, green and attractive, the village will be the main retail precinct on the west side of the Surf Coast Highway and a valuable addition to Armstrong’s community.
