Community Hits for Six at Inaugural Alamora Backyard Cricket Tournament!
The Alamora community kicked off its first Backyard Cricket Tournament, launching a three-weekend event that saw 14 teams of residents compete in knockout games. Residents enjoyed cold drinks, fruit, and muesli bars, while members of the local Truganina United Cricket Club, sponsored by Alamora, umpired the matches.
The tournament quickly became the talk of the town, with resident WhatsApp groups buzzing with updates. The finals were particularly thrilling, with the Alamora Stars defeating the Renegades and the Super Kings edging out the Lions. Ultimately, the Alamora Stars emerged victorious over the Super Kings in a nail-biting final.
Feedback from participants and spectators was overwhelmingly positive. The Little Growling Cafe’s Indian-style BBQ for the final, featuring easy-to-eat wraps and corn cups, was particularly popular.
We are proud to host events like these that turn neighbours into friends and start to build a true sense of community. The success of the inaugural tournament has confirmed interest in making it an annual event. The community eagerly anticipates next year’s tournament, building on this year’s success and further strengthening the bonds among residents.
Congratulations again to the Alamora Stars! We hope to see you back next year defending your title.
