Villawood Properties has come up with a plan to put more work in the hands of Bendigo builders and get families into homes faster – and cheaper.

The strategy would see Villawood pay either a buyer’s five percent building deposit or up to $25,000 of the building deposit for a buyer.

Meaning, if a home build costs $300,000, Villawood would pay the five percent deposit of $15,000.

But, if it is a very expensive build such as $600,000 the five percent deposit would be $30,000. Therefore the organisation would pay a maximum of $25,000.

Villawood Properties marketing manager for regional Victoria Dane Holmberg said the initiative was to help get Bendigo families into houses.

An end to empty lots

“We are aiming to help new purchasers move into their homes more quickly, rather than simply buying land and waiting,” Mr Holmberg said.

“Our goal is to foster thriving communities, not just streets lined with empty lots.

Mr Holmberg said the initiative, which runs until October, was also designed to help keep local builders busy with work.

“We’ve heard from our builders about the slowdown in the market, with many tradespeople facing work shortages for the first time in their careers,” he said.

“This promotion is intended to support our amazing building partners by generating more work within the community.”

Lots still available

There are four housing estates that the initiative applies to including Imagine Strathfieldsaye, Frawley Paddock in Axe Creek, Maidens Green Development in Maiden Gully and Rhondda Park in Woodend.

There are 14, one, four and 17 housing lots available at those estates, respectively.

“Imagine (Strathfieldsaye) is currently the best-selling community in the Bendigo region, and we want to ensure that every budget has an opportunity to live in the most sought-after community,” Mr Holmberg said.

“We have a range of different lot sizes and builders have a range of designs to make sure we can tailor to anyone’s budget.”

The Villawood Properties initiative ends on October 9.
