INSIGHT: Oliver Hume Sales Consultant Corey Sinclair Talks Buying At Villawood’s St Andrews

Q: Buying a property to build a home can be an intimidating exercise. Is it really so hard?

A:  This is a very common assumption for a lot of people. The answer is yes, it is intimidating, at first, but always worth it. It really comes down to having the right people to guide you along the way from the beginning right to the end to ensure the process is smooth. This is the part I enjoy most, starting a journey with someone and then seeing them reach their goal.

Q: What kind of people come to you asking about St Andrews?

A: St Andrews attracts a diverse range of buyer types. Owner Occupiers are our focus and First Home Buyers have a strong interest with the masterplanned community-style development we are creating. They can see it will be a beautiful place to live and grow their family. Second Home Buyers and Downsizers from the local community have also shown strong interest in our development for similar reasons and they can see we care about the end result.

Q: What are the key things these people are looking for?

A:  The majority of our customers are looking for value for money without sacrificing on the appearance. This is why they love our beautiful parks and community facilities that can be enjoyed by the residents. Shops are very conveniently placed around the development, which means we have been able to designate the majority of our open space to linear reserves, parks, playgrounds, BBQs, picnic areas – all the things Owner Occupiers desire.

Q: How many have done their homework beforehand?

A: Everybody does their homework. Adelaide’s Northern Corridor holds many developments. From here, it is moreso about educating the customers on what we will be delivering and why that will suit what they want to get out of their purchase.

Q: How many are first-timers and relying on you? What do you tell them?

A: I deal with many first timers in St Andrews as this is the dominant market we are in. I enjoy this process as it does require a lot more of a personal and structured approach to ensure all boxes are being ticked.

Q: What’s so special about St Andrews?

A: St Andrews is very special as it is unique in many ways and does not blend in with the many other surrounding developments. This is because we have such a strong Owner Occupier focus with the end result in the front of our minds. The community we will be delivering on the back of the beautiful linear trails, parks, ornaments and so on will see a very different focus to what has been done so far in the Northern Corridor. It will be a real community.

Q: How did you come to Oliver Hume and Villawood?

A:  I actually previously worked with Villawood CEO Alan Miller on another couple of developments and reached out to him. I later caught up with Oliver Hume CEO Julian Coppini and things progressed from there. I was lucky enough to be the first salesperson hired in South Australia for Oliver Hume and I am now on the first development by Villawood.

Q: Any inside tips on how to best buy into the market?

A: Tips are tricky. Make sure you have all the right people involved from the start, do your homework and remember that to just get into the market to start is always better than waiting. You may not have your dream home on the esplanade to start with but you can always build up to that once you are in the market.
