Wildlife Helping Hand
Villawood is helping with the set-up of a sanctuary for rescue animals unable to go back to the wild or needing help to do so.
The Barossa Wildlife Rescue (BWR) sanctuary will include a mobile livestock feeder funded by a Villawood community grant to help reduce over-grazing and animal traffic in concentrated areas.
“The Sanctuary has been a strategic BWR goal for many years,” says chair Greg Linke.
“Existing South Australian wildlife sanctuaries have reached their capacity, and we are currently at crisis point trying to find safe and secure locations for our rescue animals.
“We are very excited that we have now managed to pull together the necessary funding and resources to finally make it a reality.”
BWR is a not-for-profit charity, relying solely on donations to fund its operations.
“This consumes a great deal our volunteers’ efforts, distracting us from our core organisational goal of caring for the animals,” says Greg.
“For special projects that require funding over and above our operational expenses, we rely solely on grants. Without this, we would be unable to improve and expand our facilities and equipment.”
We encourage you to take the time to explore the extensive portfolio and works of the Barossa Wildlife Rescue.
