Villawood Foundation Joins South Australia's Good Home Initiative
The Good Home, a key fund-raiser for the new SA Kids Appeal, is the latest Villawood Foundation effort to help build more caring and sustainable communities for our children.
Launched by South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas, the Good Home House & Land Auction, at Villawood’s Oakden Rise, will be the first major initiative of the Kids Appeal.
The appeal is a multi-corporate campaign headed by Adelaide’s The Advertiser Foundation together with Villawood and Weeks Homes.
Funds raised by the auction will be shared evenly by five kids organisations:
- Childhood Cancer Association
- SA Back Packs for Kids
- Kick Start for Kids
- Sammy D Foundation
- Women’s & Children’s Hospital Foundation Vulnerable Babies Program
The house, already under construction, is scheduled to put to auction in November next year.
The Good Home builds on Villawood’s long-running relationship with The Advertiser’s News Corp in Melbourne’s Good Friday Appeal Charity House Auction for The Royal Children’s Hospital – an annual project that has raised $11.5M over the past 15 years.
In similar fashion, The Good Home will see a small army of tradies and suppliers join with Villawood, Weeks Homes and The Advertiser to deliver this valuable community contribution to help vulnerable children.
The Villawood Foundation was delighted to have The Advertiser Foundation Deputy Chair Penny Fowler on hand to help launch the Good Home with Premier Malinauskas. Penny has been a huge supporter of the Melbourne charity home, in her role as chair of the Good Friday Appeal and News Corp’s Herald & The Weekly Times.
Seeing corporates and government come together in a campaign like this is tremendous. It is a great achievement toward a really important cause and sets a great example for other corporates to give back to the community in a very real and meaningful way.
Villawood believes corporates have a responsibility, once they reach a certain size, to give back to the community.
It’s why we set up our Villawood Foundation. And it’s why we’re supporting The Good Home.
