Delaray's Wetland has been shortlisted for the 2023 UDIA Awards

Villawood is delighted to announce that Delaray’s Wetland has been shortlisted for the prestigious 2023 UDIA (Urban Development Institute of Australia) Awards for Excellence in Sustainability.

A Triumph of Collaboration and Sustainability

Delaray’s Wetland is the result of an exceptional collaborative effort involving Villawood, Breese Pitt Dixon, Australian Ecosystems, and MDG Landscape Architects. These experts joined forces to create an urban oasis that serves as a cooling sanctuary for our community.

A Thriving Ecosystem

Our wetlands are more than just a landscape for you to explore; they are a thriving ecosystem. They provide a secure haven for numerous animals, including frogs, fish, birds, reptiles, insects, and even bats.

Sustainability Achievements

One of the requirements for a best practice wetland is to have 80% of plant coverage. Over 80% of the wetland’s area now supports shallow and deep marsh vegetation, contributing significantly to its sustainability. Aquatic plants at Delaray’s wetlands have also achieved over 80% coverage across the water treatment zones, with minimal weed growth and excellent plant survival rates!

The shortlisting of Delaray’s Wetland for the 2023 UDIA Awards for Excellence in Sustainability reflects the remarkable journey of transforming a challenging landscape into a thriving ecological masterpiece.

Join us in celebrating this incredible recognition as we await the results of the UDIA awards, which will be announced later this year. Together, we’ve created a sustainable oasis that we can all be proud of!
