$2bn Plans at Ravenswood to help Secure Bendigo Future

Attracting Generation Z workers is key to Bendigo’s future expansion and its success, that’s according to an economic futurist.

Housing is a huge issue. But building at Ravenswood, on the Melbourne side of town, could be the answer.

Economic futurist Evan Lucas says the future of Bendigo is about how it continues to make sure that it is an attraction for the next generation.

The advantage  Bendigo has is that it is the third largest economy in the state.

It has a lot of attraction behind it, but it is also facing what every regional town is facing:

how do you get talent in a very, very constrained market?

Giving people more opportunities that they want.

And that is the choice of the housing that they want. It is the choice of the career that they want.

But also it’s about giving them what they can’t get in the city. Now that at the moment clearly is lifestyle.

Villawood Properties is looking at areas south of Bendigo and closer to Melbourne, like Ravenswood, as expansion options.

Villawood is proposing a 3000-lot housing project that could generate $2 billion for the local economy.

But red tape is a barrier, delaying housing across not just Bendigo but across Victoria, across Australia.
