Sitting out the lockdown at Armstrong

Armstrong Mount Duneed residents aren’t letting the coronavirus lockdown stifle their social lives any more than they have to.

Sunday evening saw them take to the street for a sit-out which proved a terrific community celebration over drinks and, for some, dinner.

Organised by letter-drop and social media, the sit-out was staged with people sitting at their garage doors, well back from the footpath but within easy chatting distance.

It provided a great chance for residents to walk past their neighbours and check how others were managing and ask if they needed any help.

“And it made them feel safe, supported and connected,” reports Ian ‘Muncha’ Moore, who helped organise the sit-out with other locals.  He’s already on to arranging the next.
