Villawood Properties’ Rory Costelloe and AFL legend Billy Brownless have spearheaded Billy’s Frothy Fund to its third consecutive guernsey as Australia’s highest fundraiser for Dry July with a tally of more than $95K.

The power double act also saw Rory raise the highest individual tally in the country with more than $41K, a considerable amount of it raised by matching donations dollar for dollar.

All the Dry July funds they raised will go to Barwon Health’s Andrew Love Cancer Centre at Geelong with Billy’s Frothy Fund’s three-year total now higher than $275,000.

Rory said the Dry July victory result was a great outcome. The team really appreciated “the extra effort made by everyone in a tough year of rising costs and interest rates”.

“And it’s a great outcome for the Andrew Love Centre, which is what Dry July’s all about – helping people and families affected by cancer,” said Rory, who campaigned in memory of his brother, Justin, who succumbed to cancer in 2018.

An ecstatic Billy said: “Again, a really good team effort by one and all. Another great July by Billie’s Froffie Fund!

“Well done, Rory. Well done Geelong people helping Geelong people.”

Rory’s individual win was a tight contest and an exciting one.

“The Frothy Fund enjoyed a strong lead early in the campaign but I was neck and neck with others as the campaign approached the finish line,” he said.

Barwon Health Foundation executive director Zoe Waters described the Dry July effort as absolutely brilliant!”

Billy, true to his legendary form, was keen to celebrate after a parched 31 days.

“Let’s have a beer!” he laughed.
