Villawood Triple Winners at UDIA VIC Awards
Villawood Properties has scooped the pools with three prestigious prizes at today’s Urban Development Institute of Australia Victorian Excellence Awards.
The national developer took out the highly-coveted Sustainability Excellence Award for its expansive Delaray Wetlands project at Clyde North.
It also snared the UDIA’s Marketing Excellence Award for its Care Worker Support Program, which provides $20K savings for essential workers including police, paramedics, emergency and health workers, teachers and personal carers.
Villawood’s long-time associates MESH also took out the UDIA Consultants Excellence Award for its planning work at the developer’s Armstrong Mount Duneed project.
The Delaray Wetlands project treats large volumes of stormwater from the estate and surrounding areas. It filters out pollutants, improves water quality and assists urban cooling, wildlife habitat and public amenity.
The wetlands helps protect the downstream Clyde Creek, which flows into the environmentally sensitive, biodiverse Western Port Bay. This in turn contains important seagrass and mangrove habitats and also habitat for a range of international migratory bird species.
Villawood’s Care Worker Support Program kicked off five years ago in Geelong, where its early success prompted its expansion to Melbourne and then nationally into Queensland and South Australia. More than 210 care sector workers have taken up the offer and Villawood has contributed more than $3.45 million since its inception.
Consultant planner MESH put numerous ground-breaking ideas into practice in Villawood’s 2800-lot masterplanned Armstrong Munt Duneed, designed for 14,000 people. These included an exclusive, multi-faceted resort-style residents’ club facility and neighbourhood activity centre.
MESH oversaw the strategic planning of a range of facilities and parks to assist the development of a sustainable community. Its vision was central to Armstrong’s new-brand design, community-building and marketing success.
