Villawood victorious at 2019 UDIA Victoria Awards for Excellence

A community focus and commitment to sustainability have once again proven to be the winning formula for Villawood Properties, with the developer walking away with the “Environmental Excellence” and “Best Residential Development” awards at the prestigious UDIA Awards 2019.

Australia’s greenest urban community, Aquarevo, wowed the UDIA judges with its fit-for-purpose water and solar power model applied to all 460+ homes in the estate which will save up to 70 per cent of water and 65 per cent of energy usage, compared the current Australian averages.

The Lyndhurst community is a unique joint venture between Villawood Properties and South East Water who devised the technology responsible for delivering the significant water savings across the project.

Just down the road in Clyde North, Delaray is the picture of suburban bliss, featuring stunning wetlands, board walks, parklands, playgrounds, public art and one of Villawood’s signature resort-style Residents’ Clubs. This winning combination saw Delaray named “Best Residential Community of 2019” and marks the fourth time that a Villawood Community with a Residents’ Club has taken out the top honours in its category.

Villawood Properties’ Executive Director, Rory Costelloe, said that a focus on sustainability and the unique Residents’ Clubs model had both become a vital to the Villawood brand in terms of delivering something exceptional.

“In 2019 Villawood celebrated 30 years of striving to create communities where sustainability, in every sense be it environmental, economic or social, are a central component.   Both Aquarevo and Delaray articulate this vision in their own unique ways.

“Delaray, with its Residents’ Clubs and the extensive activated open space, provides the quintessential expression of what we endeavour to achieve in terms of place making and community creation.

“Aquarevo, which addresses the pressures of population growth, rising utilities costs and increasing scarcity of natural resources, represents the direction we all need to go in the future, creating homes that are both environmentally friendly and affordable to run,” Mr. Costelloe said.
