EcoDesign

It is very important to orientate your home to its best advantage.

Maximize your energy savings by placing windows and sun filled areas in optimum locations, inviting natural heating and air flow. This will have a big impact on reducing your energy bills.

This sketch shows the ideal house orientation and room locations on different lot types. Living areas should ideally face north to take advantage of the northerly sun.

Save Water

Now is the time to save our precious water supplies. After a decade of droughts and sever water restrictions across the country, the cost of potable water is increasing rapidly.

By installing water efficient products and appliances such as rain tanks and water reducing shower heads, you may initially spend more, but will save money in the long run. Water prices will likely double and triple over the next five years meaning that water savings will turn into money savings.

This figure demonstrates the water savings that can be made while constructing your home in line with the Villawood Green Guide when compared to a standard Victorian home.

Save Energy

With an increasing number of homes built every year, global warming is reaching crisis point. It is up to all of us to ensure that measures are taken to reduce the consumption of energy, by incorporating smart initiatives to reduce every day greenhouse emissions.

A smart home design and orientation, together with energy efficient appliances and products, will not only help reduce pressure on our precious resources, but it will ultimately save you money too. Properly designed homes are not only more ecologically sound, but they are more comfortable and healthy to live in.

Savings of up to 47% are possible using the enviroSTAR guide

Eco Materials

The production of materials used to construct new homes can draw heavily on our resources. The use of recycled or low environmental impact materials will decrease the impact on the environment. These products will reduce demand on energy, water and gas supplies as well as reducing the volume of waste heading to landfill.

The health of your family should also be considered when selecting the materials for your home. For example low emission options are available for paints and composite timber products, which ensure you a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle.
